PPBM confirmed that the party received a letter from Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding the decision of the Umno Supreme Council meeting on Feb 19 which decided not to cooperate with PPBM in the 15th general election and only with the National Alliance government until Parliament is dissolved.
PPBM Secretary General Hamzah Zainudin said, the PPBM Political Bureau meeting yesterday evening discussed the letter and made a decision to bring it into the PPBM Supreme Council meeting this afternoon.
“The Political Bureau has decided that PPBM’s stance will be decided in the PPBM Supreme Council members meeting this evening, March 4 and the stance will also be discussed in the next PN Supreme Council meeting with other PN component parties namely PAS, STAR, SAPP and GERAKAN, “he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Annuar Musa urged the party to confirm whether the party had sent a letter to Muhyiddin informing him that he would not cooperate with PPBM in GE-15, and Umno’s involvement in the current government “only until Parliament is dissolved”.
This development was made before Umno convened the annual general assembly at the end of this month, which is said to determine the fate of cooperation with PPBM.
Annuar also questioned why Umno acted in such a way before the motion was brought to the Umno General Assembly which will convene on March 28.
Annuar, who is also the Federal Territories minister, believes that the decision to set Umno in government only until Parliament is dissolved will be detrimental to the party if it is not in the caretaker government after Parliament is dissolved.
