Faced with a lawsuit against Muhyiddin Yassin, a member of the Umno Supreme Council, Puad Zarkashi, invited the prime minister to debate the time.
Puad was invited before his users answered a RM10 million summons letter to Muhyiddin in the issue of social media delivery made by the former Batu Pahat MP.
“Will Muhyiddin be willing to debate?” Puad asked.
According to the former director general of the Department of Special Affairs (Services), the ‘first round’ in the clash between him and Muhyiddin was completed with the completion of his answer from the relevant parties.
“Alhamdulillah, I am relieved. The first round is over. Understand that it is not normal to play as a lawyer because he has never been summoned. What else is a summons by an individual who is the prime minister,” he said.
Puad has always been critical and cynical towards Muhyiddin, including when the former Umno deputy president had just returned from an official visit to Jakarta, Indonesia.
That comment prompted Muhyiddin to send a letter of demand to Puad asking him to submit an apology and compensation of RM10 million.
Apparently in the suit chapter there is no issue of ‘between two degrees’. One day it is not impossible that there will be fishermen, tappers or Grab drivers who will be summoned by the prime minister.
“Then it is not wrong for me to debate with Muhyiddin before meeting in court,” he said.
Puad added that with the current suit, no one can claim that he is not on par with Muhyiddin to debate.
“If the suit is possible, why not the debate? Hopefully Sinar (Daily), Astro or RTM can be the host,” he said.
On Feb 9, the Prime Minister’s Office threatened to take legal action against Puad over his delivery if he failed to apologize publicly.
Puad previously claimed that Muhyiddin and his officers refused to carry out quarantine when they arrived in the country from Indonesia.
He also questioned whether the refusal of Muhyiddin and his officials to undergo quarantine for 10 days caused Health Minister Adham Baba to issue a new directive through the Federal Gazette to stipulate that the quarantine of a minister who left the country only took three days.
Commenting further on the debate invitation, Puad said his purpose was not to find anyone wrong.
“The debate is not because of ego. Not to find out who is wrong, but to find out what is wrong, ”he said.
