PAS is open to UMNO’s intention to use the Barisan Nasional (BN) emblem in the 15th General Election (GE15) following the decision not to join the Perikatan Nasional as one of the components.
PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said UMNO’s decision to use the symbol was not a big problem for Pas as long as it was implemented as best as possible without a clash between BN and the Perikatan Nasional.
“In terms of political structure, UMNO did not join the Perikatan Nasional. For me, the statement (use the Barisan Nasional symbol) is not a problem because what is important is support.
“If UMNO is with the Perikatan Nasional, it is better and tidy this relationship but UMNO’s statement that there will be no clash between BN and PN, is good enough.
“We do not want to collide with each other but if we sit together, it is better. Despite the fact that we expect more, but that is his (UMNO) right. I can not comment, “he said.
Earlier, UMNO Vice President, Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the party will use the BN emblem in GE15 following the decision not to join the Perikatan Nasional (PN) as one of the components.
He also stressed that an agreement had been reached so that no clashes would take place as Pas also joined the Perikatan Nasional with PPBM.
Meanwhile, when asked about the division of seats, Mohd Amar said, it is still in the discussion period at the central level.
“Seats at the state level are also managed by the Center. I understand, a new discussion at the Parliamentary seat level. Seats at the state level have not been discussed yet, “he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary of UMNO Youth Malaysia, Hasmuni Hassansaid PPBM is seen as more ideal to unite again to join UMNO in an effort to strengthen the spirit of unification of the ummah.
He said it was the President of the PPBM, Muhyiddin Yassin recently confirmed Malay parties should unite to strengthen the unity of the nation.
However, Hasmuni, who is also the Kubang Pasu UMNO Youth Chief, said he more agreed with the suggestion of Malaysian UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki that Muhyiddin’s call should not be rhetorical simply because the two parties have the same purpose.
“Only this measure will strengthen the unity of the ummah after UMNO and Pas unite through Muafakat Nasional. This consensus shows the results and impact is very positive and proven in several series of by-elections (PRK) before.”
