Liew Chin Tong of DAP claimed that Senior Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali had used the “political coup” to divide the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government since October last year.
Liew claimed that the minister of trade and industry assisted by the Home Minister, Hamzah Zainudin and the Foreign Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein in the effort to form a new government.
He said the main objective of the plan for the main purpose, Anwar Ibrahim became the prime minister.
“Their plan in October 2019 to form a unity government Malays with the addition of groups Hishammuddin (17 MPs), the Coalition Party Sarawak (GPS) (18) and PAS (18) for a total of 53 MPs, the amount required for the use of the Fund (11 ) and DAP (42), ”he said in a blog post today.
“Azmin believes that when DAP and Amanah come out, he will be able to control most of the PKR MPs, or no one will support Anwar as prime minister.”
Liew said the first part of the plan was Hishammuddin’s announcement on his idea to build “Bangsa Malaysia” without DAP and Amanah, but the “coup” failed because the PH secretariat revealed their plans in a timely manner.
However, he said, PH failed to block the “Sheraton move” in February when current prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin gave his support to the move and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi led the entire Umno bloc for the coup.
“As the country continues to be affected by the Sheraton coup, more stories to ‘whitewash’ the conspiracy emerge. It is time for us to document what really happened, ”said Liew.
Earlier, Azmin claimed that the formation of the Perikatan Nasional(PN) was Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s idea to ensure that he remained the prime minister with the support of MPs from all parties.
He said Mahathir’s resignation as prime minister had put the country in a political crisis. Azmin said the proposal was aimed at ensuring that Mahathir remained prime minister with the support of MPs from all parties.
“If Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin does not act in a short time, others may have rushed to the palace and put pressure on the effort to become prime minister. I will not let that happen.
“The only option for me and Muhyiddin at that time was to leave Pakatan Harapan.”
Mahathir denied the allegations yesterday, accusing Azmin of planning the Sheraton move because he himself aspired to be prime minister. He said he would have remained as prime minister if he was indeed the mastermind of the Perikatan Nasional.
