Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said his party will continue to support the government of the day, Perikatan Nasional because the current government does not have DAP and its ‘racist’ allies with it.
Ahmad Maslan said, Umno is also of the view that it will remain strong in the Muafakat Nasional with PAS and its Barisan Nasional (BN) component partners because any form of division will not bring the benefit to the people.
According to him, the Malays would not support DAP and not like other parties with DAP which he regarded as ‘splitting the nation’.
“Goodbye DAP and the parties that support it. Welcome to the blessed consensus, its benefits to the people.
“UMNO still supports the current government because DAP & its allies are not in this alliance.
“People #Melayu does not support #DAP and we do not like the crushing of the nation with the DAP,” he was quoted as saying.
In the meantime, Ahmad also explained that the effort to maintain the unity is the best way because unity with good intentions has never been detrimental.
“The decades-long dispute that was stopped is the best path we have chosen. Alhamdulillah,” he said.
Last year on Sept 14, Umno and PAS made history when it signed the Charter of National Unity, among others, have agreed to form a partnership to develop a narrative of Islam and Malays without denying the diversity of religions, races and cultures as central to the political stability, racial harmony and the welfare state.
The Muafakat Nasional cooperation continued to bring positive results to both parties when they managed to win six by-elections (PRK) including the latest, the Chini State Assembly (DUN) by-election since the political cooperation charter was signed.
Muafakat Nasional also played an important role in forming the Perikatan Nasional government following the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government on February 24, together with Parti Pribumi Rakyat Malaysia (Bersatu) a faction of former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders led by its former Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and the Sarawak Party Coalition (GPS).
Previously, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad pointed out that DAP can not destroy the Malays.
Instead, he said Muhyiddin Yassin, who was the minister plenipotentiary in the DAP deregistered if the party was clearly able to destroy the Malay race.
He said Muhyiddin was more interested in using the DAP in order to scare the Malays so that the Malays can be joining hands to go against the Pakatan Harapan.
In fact, Mahathir stressed that it is not possible for DAP to control the Cabinet with only six ministers.
He said that the number of DAP ministers is the same as PPBM which only won 13 seats but got the same ministerial quota.
“It is not possible at all for DAP to control the Cabinet with six Ministers. All decisions in the Cabinet need the approval of 28 Ministers.
“The assumption that six Cabinet Ministers can control 22 other Ministers does not make sense. After all, my agreement as Prime Minister needs to be obtained, ”he said.
Clearly, now Muhyiddin is trying to get PPBM to lose its leader by stripping them of their membership. Therefore, Mahathir once again stressed that he will not cooperate with Muhyiddin who has toppled Pakatan Harapan.
