Zuraida Kamaruddin, who is currently on leave from her postition in PKR as the vice-president insisted she was not among the MPs who allegedly signed a statuary of declaration (SD) in support of Dr Mahathir Mohamad to remain as the prime minister.
Zuraida said she was not aware of the validity of the news claiming that 138 MPs and the government including 26 MPs from PKR had signed the SD.
“I have no certainty about the validity of the news. I don’t know about SD, only Allah (SWT) knows.
“I’m not involved with the SD. If there were many other things I have signed, then yes. I just signed (some documents),” she jokingly spoke to the reporters.
Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that claims of a group of MPs signing SD to support Mahathir are just hearsay.
He said he had read the report which was published by Sarawak Report but he has no knowledge of the matter.
“There is no confirmation (on the SD). No one came forward (to confirm),” he said.
Asked if he was also invited to sign the SD, Saifuddin who is also Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs minister said: “As far as I know there was no invitation. These are just rumours.”
Yesterday, Sarawak Report quoted sources claiming that MPs from Umno, PAS, Bersatu and PKR MPs in favour of deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, were urged to come to Kuala Lumpur to sign the SD within 48 hours.
Today, a portal reported that 138 MPs had signed an SD to support Dr Mahathir’s stay as the prime minister until the end of the current administration.
The portal reported that it is included 18 PAS MPs, 26 PKR MPs, at least 13 of the 39 UMNO MPs and 26 MPs of the United Indigenous People’s Party of Malaysia (United).
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said he has yet to be informed about a purported statutory declaration (SD) to support Mahathir as prime minister until the end of term.
“I have not been officially informed.” He further said the leaders of Pakatan Harapan are intact, despite efforts by the Opposition bloc to cause disarray within the coalition.
