Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) will be discussing on the disciplinary action that may be taken against an assemblyman who was arrested recently alleged for drug abuse and recent gambling activities.
Party president Muhyiddin Yassin said the matter will be discussed tomorrow in a meeting to be chaired by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“There are guidelines in terms of party ethics and discipline, we will decide tomorrow.
“But however, (we) have to be fair because one is innocent until proven guilty,” he was quoted as saying.
Muhyiddin said he leaves the matter to the authorities, to take any appropriate action against the assemblyman.
“It’s up to the police. The police have already run a test on them and have submitted it (urine test) to the Chemistry Department.”
Previously, it was reported that Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah and four political special officers were among 17 people arrested following a raid on premises in Puchong and later released by police for drugs.
However, Adhif has later, denied he was arrested while describing such claims as an attempt to sabotage him ahead of the party polls.
But Selangor PPBM chief Abdul Rashid Asari has also confirmed a viral social media post claiming that a party assemblyperson has been detained for using illicit drugs.
He added that the assemblyperson did not contact him on the matter and he had learned of the arrest from the Home Ministry.
Meanwhile, PPBM’s Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the wing has suspended two of its leaders, Adhif who is Selangor PPBM chief and PPBM national assistant secretary Ahmad Redzuan Mohamed Shafi with immediate effect, throughout the police investigation into the incident.
He said the decision to suspend the duo was made in a meeting held with the party wing’s leaders.
“Ahmad Redzuan is suspended as PPBM national assistant secretary and his position will be held by Danial Syahiran Ho Imran Ho, an exco of PPBM national.
“Adhif is suspended as the Selangor PPBM chief and the position will be held by Anas Akashah Nazri, the deputy chief of Selangor PPBM.
“The Youth wing also hopes for the investigation to proceed smoothly and fairly based on the country’s laws.”
